Night of legends film is a digital journey that showcases the artistry, resilience, music, style and timeless influence of fashion of color.
We’ve traced over 150 years of the impact of Black culture on global aesthetics and trends with the power of rich archival research and artificial intelligence (Al) technology. From Victorian elegance to the bold lines of the Harlem Renaissance, from mid-century modernism to the streetwear revolution of hip-hop, and from the activism of the Civil Rights Movement to the global influence of Black designers.
Each era that has left an indelible mark on the fashion world was paired with artistic references, style inspirations, period-specific visuals, and brought to life through unique AI-generated artworks.
This project also explores the possibilities and limitations of visual narratives crafted with AI—embracing the defaults, imperfections, and raw experimentation that define the technology in 2024.
The Night of Legends film was presented during the 2024 New York Fashion Week at Harlem's Fashion Row 17th Fashion Show and Style Awards as a tribute to the creative legacy of fashion of color.
